In September 2025, I was unanimously elected Assistant Professor of Paediatric Orthopaedics at the School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. My appointment carries the responsibility of leading the academic and clinical organization, development, and future operation of the Paediatric Orthopaedic Clinic at the new University Children's Hospital "Stavros Niarchos" in Thessaloniki.
The establishment of the first dedicated university-based Paediatric Orthopaedic Clinic in Northern Greece represents a major milestone for paediatric musculoskeletal healthcare, education, and research. The clinic is designed to provide comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care for children with congenital, developmental, traumatic, neuromuscular, spinal, oncological, and complex orthopaedic conditions. It will also serve as a regional referral centre, supporting multidisciplinary collaboration, advancing clinical research, promoting innovation, and providing undergraduate, postgraduate, and fellowship training in Paediatric Orthopaedics.
Until the completion and commissioning of the new University Children's Hospital, I am undertaking my academic and clinical duties at Papageorgiou General Hospital, where I am actively involved in establishing the clinical, educational, and research foundations that will support the successful transition and future operation of the University Paediatric Orthopaedic Clinic.
As a father of three, Themistoklis understands the worries of a parent when a child is injured or has a musculoskeletal problem and therefore provides a child-centred approach. Having played football at school to university level, he also appreciates how participating in sport and being active forms a very important part of a child’s or adolescent’s life. Our aim is therefore to restore your child’s ability to participate in these activities as soon as is safely possible.
Through his extensive training and experience, Mr Tzatzairis has developed expertise in the management of:
1) Acute Sporting Injuries and Paediatric Trauma including fractures

As well as providing non-surgical treatment (plaster casts or splints), he performs surgical procedures including fracture fixation, hip reconstruction and complex foot reconstruction.
